Early voting surge continues in Ulster, with more than 11K votes as of Tuesday

KINGSTON, N.Y. — Early voters continued their surge at the polls this week, with more than 11,000 casting ballots throughout Ulster County in four days.

Democratic Ulster County Board of Elections Commissioner Ashley Dittus reported Wednesday that despite changes made to address long wait times at polling places, those times remain at about two hours.

According to the Ulster County Board of Elections, 11,311 votes have been cast Saturday through Tuesday. In 2019, the first year of early voting in the state, 7,442 voters cast ballots early over 10 days.

This year so far as of Tuesday, 2,860 votes were cast at the Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center in Kingston; 2,161 at Mescal Hornbeck Community Center in Woodstock; 2,572 at New Paltz Community Center,; 2,237 American Legion Post 193 in Highland, and 1,481 at Ellenville Public Library.
